The characteristic traits of each tree remind us the great maps of cities. Knots become squares, streets are seen like worm-eaten tracks, barks can define blocks and neighbourhoods. Venice or Manhattan, viewed from the air, may retrieve from our memories the geometry of the natural wood. There has always been a strong bond between man and nature, even on a very different scale: trees and city sediment over the years, their history and their inimitable and unique beauty. The idea is a game: take a metropolis, but let us disassemble it, keeping the soul, the hallmark. Let us do the same with wood and then, freely, we can create our own unique personal city on a wooden floor.
Luca Compri, architect, during 2001 till 2004, developed his competences in the field of sustainability and became a successful pioneer regarding construction techniques and construction materials like wood and "raw" earth. In 2004 Compri opened his own studio in the city of Varese. The main interest represented by the study regards architectural spaces and the direct relationship between the latest and the end user, and his continuous attempt to melt the unique values of nature with the geometrical and rational soul of architecture. In 2008 Compri became a consultant of the Associazione Nazionale Architettura Bioecologica (ANAB). At the same time he was invited as guest speaker at seminars and writes articles. Over the years, the studio has also very active abroad, especially in Chad.
