finishes

A 98% natural oil, obtained from plants is used. It makes the wood look authentic. Thanks also to its chemical composition, it is a lasting nourishment for the floor as time goes by; with a regular maintenance the floor can preserve its characteristics forever.

Perché Why should you choose an oil finish?

• oil is natural and biocompatible
• wood looks more authentic
• maintenance is simple
• possability of carrying out maintenance works to keep the initial look of the floor
• the product is manufactured in accordance with the DIN 68861, ° 1st which regulations the resistance to most liquids used at table
• the criteria of the DIN 53160 and EN71 regulations, which state the parameters for the treatment of wood toys, are also observed

In order to make the floor collection more versatile and to better meet market demands, Xilo1934, along with the oil finish, has introduced a lacquer finish. Why should you choose a lacquer finish?
• lacquer is 100% water based
• thanks to its particular chemical composition wood can breathe
• it is harder and more resistant than normal lacquers
• it can be repaired
• after the application of the lacquer, the boards have a perfectly smooth surface. They do not have the “orange peel touch” which is typical of many pre-finish lacquer products
• resistance to the Taber test is doubled in comparison to a normal lacquering with solvent-based products
• during the lacquering process the most modern nanotechnologies are used
• Improved protective coat. High scratch resistance.

Structure and advantages

STABILITY The three-layer floor has the intrinsic quality to increase the stability of the finished product, limiting its natural adjustments. Xilo1934 no longer produces its floors counterbalancing with the same wood, because it has found some deformation problems, therefore in order to obtain the maximum mechanical resistance, it has increased the internal part, reducing the counterbalancing to the minimum and adding a micro-bevel on the 4 sides. In this way, possible wood deformations are reduced in a remarkable way and the product is therefore

• suitable on heating floors
• suitable on cooling systems

Accessories

XILO1934 completes its offer with coordinated accessories that are suitable for stairway coverings or installation.

Maintenance
Xilo1934 oil finished floors continue to breathe because oil is 98% pure as it is made of only natural materials and goes deep into the wood without closing its pores. No additional layer is therefore created, thus the wood keeps its structure and natural hue and becomes more wear resistant. Oil finishings meet the DIN-68861, 1st regulation perfectly. In fact they are water-repellent and resist to most liquids used normally at table, such as wine, beer, tea, coke, fruit juices, milk and water. They are also in accordance with the DIN 53160 and EN 71 regulations as they meet the requirements concerning children’s toys. This kind of finish requires a particular care as time goes by, for this reason a cleaning and maintenance plan composed of few simple instructions has been drawn
AFTER INSTALLATION
Oil finished floors are given a very resistant treatment in the factory and they are ready to be used immediately after installation. However, it is always a good idea to apply a coat of maintenance oil. WEEKLY AND DAILY CLEANING
We suggest removing dust and dirt, sweeping or vacuum cleaning the floor. To clean the floor it is necessary to use a well-strung cloth, using the Maintenance Soap which has to be diluted with water (1/8 litre of soap in 5 litres of lukewarm water) or Oil Refresher. In this way, not only is the floor being cleaned, but a protective layer is also created, thus increasing the resistance of the surface and extending period of extraordinary maintenance.
ORDINARY MAINTENANCE

If the floor is particularly dirty, instead of using the soap, the Intensive Cleanser needs to be used (1/8 of Cleanser in 5 litre of lukewarm water). In this case, an application of maintenance oil is required.Particularly resistant stains can be removed with the Spot Remover, which must be sprayed on the stains and left there. If the wood has absorbed any dirt, a light sanding of the area is necessary, followed by an application of Maintenance Oil.

EXTRAORDINARY MAINTENANCE

The oil can be sprayed on the floor only after it has been dried completely. Spread the oil by hand or with the floor polisher immediately after applying it. Remove any excess oil with a dry cloth in order to avoid brighter areas. If necesssary, repeat until the floor appears saturated and with an opaque and silk-like surface. The floor can be used after about 4-5 hours (at about 18-20° C).
After 24 hours, Soap can be used to clean it.

AFTER INSTALLATION

No treatment is required after installation.

WEEKLY AND DAILY CLEANING

Remove dust and dirt by simply sweeping or vacuuming the floor. Clean the floor with a neutral soap or any other delicate products which have to be applied with a well strung cloth.
Use as little water as possible. If any water is spit on the floor, wipe immediately. inserire foto - Lacquer soap
1 lt. 40 sqm – once

ORDINARY MAINTENANCE

For ordinary maintenance you can use a wax or a lacquer care product suggested by the parquet producer to enliven, polish and preserve the floor.
Wash the floor thoroughly with a neutral soap. Once completely dry, apply a thin coat of wax or protective treatment. If dirty, rinse the cloth/mop in clear water and wring it hard. Continue the application until finished, without stopping. Let the surface to dry for approx. 30 minutes. After 20-30 minutes, the floor can be walked on.
- Productive Lacquer Care - 1 lt. 60 sqm – once - Intensive cleaner – 1 lt, 70-80 sqm - 20 times - Protective Lacquer Spray - 1 lt. 40 sqm – once

EXTRAORDINARY MAINTENANCE

If the lacquer has worn out in some areas and the wood is uncovered, it is necessary to apply more specific products recommended by the company or published in our catalogues and/or website.

SUGGESTIONS

Place a wide rug at the entrance on the outside to avoid gravel and water from getting in. To prevent scratching, place small felt pads under chairs and tables. Protect areas which have to bear considerable weight with suitable rugs/mats.
Note: for maintenance operations, please see the instructions enclosed with the products used.
